Using Rubrics to score Dropbox submissions

To grade students' submissions to a Dropbox that has a Rubric:

1. Click on the name of the Dropbox

2. Click on "Leave Feedback" for a student's submission

3. Click on the appropriate radio buttons when scoring the submission. Use the pencil icon to the right of the criteria or level field to add text feedback.

4. Click [Transfer Score] to move the total score of the rubric to the Assessment of the Dropbox

5. Click [Save]

Adding Rubrics to a Dropbox

To add a Rubric to a Dropbox:

1. Click "Dropbox" in a D2L course site and click either "New Dropbox" or edit an existing Dropbox by clicking on the pencil icon to the right

2. Click [Add Rubric] in the Rubrics field

3. Choose the Rubric you wish to use in the pop-up window (Note: only Rubrics that are 'published' will appear). Click [Add Selected].

Creating Rubrics

To create a Rubric:

1. Add the "Rubric" link to the navigation bar in the course site

2. Click "New Rubric"

3. Give the rubric a name and then choose its status:

     a. A "draft" rubric is not yet available to add to assessment items in D2L.

     b. A "published" rubric is available for assessment items in D2L.

4. Choose the type of rubric to create:

     a. An "analytic" rubric is a two-dimensional rubric with criteria and levels. Select the number of  
     criteria and corresponding levels and how the rubric will be scored (using points or text)

     b. A "holistic" rubric is a one-dimensional rubric with only levels. Select the number of levels and how
     the rubric will be scored (percentages or text).

5. Click [Save]

6. Click the "Levels and Criteria" tab.

7. To edit the levels and/or criteria fields, click on the down-arrow to the right of either the levels and/or criteria.
