Embedding Videos in the ePortfolio (Content/LayoutTab)

Step 1: To add a video from YouTube to your ePortfolio Presentation, you'll need to place or 'embed' the video in a Text Area. Here's how to do that:
  1. Go to the YouTube page where you can watch the video you are interested in putting in your Presentation. Below the video, you'll see a button called "Share." Click on "Share."
  2. Next, you will see appear below this button a link to the video and a button called "Embed." Click on "Embed."
  3. You will now see a highlighted field of text below the "Embed" button (it will normally begin with "iframe." Copy the whole line of text
Step 2: After you have copied the 'embed' text, return to the ePortfolio and click on "Presentations," and then click on the pencil icon for the Presentation to which you wish to add the YouTube video. Then, click on the "Content/Layout" tab.

On the page to which you wish to add the video, click "Add a Component" and choose "Text Area." When you do, you'll see a new window open up. In the lower-left hand corner of the area, there is a small icon (hovering over it, it will say "Edit HTML code"). Click on this icon.

Step 3: When you click on the small icon, a new window will open up. Paste the YouTube embed text into this area and then click "Update."

Step 4: After clicking "Update," you will return to the "Text Area" window. You should then see an icon like the one below in the "Text Area" window. You can type into the Text Area around the icon.

Once you see this image, you should then be able to select "Save" or "Save and Close" and return to the Presentation Content/Layout area.

You should now be able to see the YouTube video in the Presentation when you choose to "View Presentation."
