Problem Selecting Dates in Calendar

Problem: When you click on dates in the calendar in the little calendar in the top of the left column, nothing happens.

Solution: The default selection on the events bar is "Agenda." If you click on "Day," "Week," or "Month" the schedule will change and it should take you to the Day, Week etc. when you click on the date in the little calendar in the top of the left column.

D2L 9.4.1 – January 2012

Problem with News Items Copied from Previous Course

Problem: After copying components from a previous semester, news items are listed as "expired" and attempts to change and publish the item result in script errors.

Solution:
(1) To get the copied news items to publish, you will need to change both the start and end dates to the current semester. Even if you don't want to keep the end date selected, you will need to do this because keeping an out-of-date end date unused can contribute to receiving script errors.

(2) If you don't need an end date for the news item, it might be best to pick an end date around the end of the semester.

(3) Next You will also need to check the box that says "major update" before saving in order for it to "publish" (i.e. show up under your news). At this point, the item should show up in your News section as "published" rather than "expired."

Online quiz technical guidelines for students

Instructors are urged to give students these guidelines to avoid technical problems during online quizzes:
  • Use the most reliable internet connection available: Come to a campus lab, if possible. Next in reliability are cable modem and DSL. Dial-up is not recommended.
  • Use a "hard-wired" internet connection, NOT WIRELESS.
  • SAVE each answer as they move through the quiz.
  • WAIT a minute after hitting Submit Quiz, before shutting down the browser or logging out of D2L -- this allows the system to properly save their responses and do the auto-grading, if that option is enabled.
  • If the student has browser issues (e.g., the browser "freezes") or loses internet connectivity during the quiz, they should
    • shut down the browser (not submit the quiz, not log out)
    • open a new browser window
    • log back into D2L
    • navigate to the course and enter the quiz again
    • continue taking the quiz.
    • NOTE: In a timed quiz, the clock keeps ticking.
