When did my student access the course last?

If you click on [classlist] in the upper navigation bar, you can view the date and time a student last accessed the course. Students cannot see this, only instructors and TAs.

Previously, this information was only available through the User Progress tool.

"User progress" can be used to view whether or not a student has accessed a particular piece of content, quiz, survey, etc. More can be found at:

Unenroll users from Classlist

Official student enrollments in timetable courses will be handled through an overnight update of PAWS information into D2L. The Instructor can process other enrollments and unenrollments from the D2L course site Classlist.

To unenroll someone from the Classlist:

1. click the box to the left of the individual's name
   
2. click the [unenroll selected users] icon (looks like a snowman with a red hyphen attached to its head, and is located above the "first name" column heading

Quizzes: time restricted quiz

Question: When a student clicks the start quiz link to a time-restricted quiz, does the time clock start and continue even if the student closes the D2L browser window before submitting the quiz?

Yes, if a quiz has a time limit once the student clicks the Start Quiz link the time starts regardless if the quiz is submitted.  Moreover if the quiz is set to allow for normal submission the student can submit the quiz even if the time limit and grace period have expired. Submissions after the grace period will be flagged as late. Please note: once a student starts a quiz saves his/her responses exits the quiz without submitting it the clock is still ticking.

What if I need to give student time and a half?

What if a student was sick and I need to give them a couple more days to take the quiz?

Follow these steps to give special access to quizzes for students when your quizzes are already set up:

1. Go into each of the quizzes that you need to allow students special access.
2. Click on the "Restrictions" tab. 
3. Scroll to the bottom of the “Restrictions” tab until you see a heading that reads "Advanced Availability."
4. Make sure that “Allow selected users special access to this quiz,” under the heading, is checked.
5. Click on "Add Users to Special Access."
6. On this screen, you should see a heading that reads “Special Access Properties.” Under this heading, you can adjust start dates, end dates, and time limits for the student.
7. When you scroll down, you will see a heading that reads “Users.” Under this tab, you can select the students that this change will apply to by checking the box next to their names.
8. Click the “Add Special Access” button on the bottom right of the screen to save the changes.
9. TO EDIT: You can always edit access for students that are visible under “add users to special access” button by clicking on the little pencil icon by their names.
